The Hypothetical AU Meme: Take any one of the fandoms you know I write in (or think I should), and give me a type of AU (space opera AU, pirate AU, superhero AU, Ancient Rome, etc). I will then explain what story from your chosen fandom I would write for your chosen type of AU.

Regarding the "or think I should" part, please keep this to fandoms you know I actually have some degree of familiarity with. If you ask me for, say, Star Trek or bandom or Stargate, I got nothing.

However, I am perfectly happy to describe more than one AU idea for a given fandom, so don't feel like you have to skip over this or come up with something else if someone has already mentioned yours.

I second the high school AU (high school!Mac...eeee!) and would also like to hear your take on a CSI:NY ancient Rome AU (gladiator!Mac? heh.)

Just for a change - "The Devil Wears Prada" movieverse, Elizabethan AU.

I second all previous ideas. And put forth the idea of having a CSI:NY done like the vein of Sherlock Holmes. That whole Vitorian Time line. OR Mac trying to like catch Jack the Ripper. I now picture Flack with mutton chops

This is so unrelated but I gotta tell you anyway before I forget; I had a dream the other night where I was going to meet you in real life (for the first time and all that) and I was all like "I don't even know what she looks like because in my head I always picture Stella and that's not correct at all!" and then I DID meet you and omg you DID look like Stella EXACTLY!! XD I distinctly remember in my dream going silently "OMG WHAT ARE THE ODDS??" lolol And then we went on to solve crimes so I'm not sure whether you just merged with Stella or what LOL. Try to see it as flattery from my subconscious?

I am totally delighted by your dream, and trust me, I do see that as flattery. There is nothing bad at all about being associated with Stella, plus I would kill to look like her.

And yay for dreamtime crime-solving! That is also awesome.

Since it's all the rage: CSI:NY, the military AU.

Or, Batman (bodyguard-Sasha-era) as a politics AU.

CSI: NY, "almost everyone's a zombie" AU

This is probably just me, but CSI:NY newsies AU - Mac runs the best newsy business in NYC, taking in unwanted orphans and such and giving them a living and a place to stay and organizing them into a union to take on the big robber-baron newspaper owners, and there's probably a side in night-time PI work, which he only lets the older kids in on under duress or something and then they end up being *good* at it so . . . and you could even do a crack AU of the AU where they'd break into old-style ensemble song and dance routines in public place, a la Newsies (early 90s Disney musical with Christian Bale in the lead . . . I'm probably the only one who remembers it)!

You'd be suprised - it's got a pretty loyal core following around other parts of Livejournal.

Oh, wow...so many ideas...

I love a previous poster's Sherlock Holmes idea. Especially with Stella as Watson for Mac :)

I also keep picturing the two of them in ancient Italy. Can see Mac as a Senator of Rome and Stella as a member of Greek royalty staying in Rome... yeah, you know me and these two :) Together, please :)

I know! Stella would be awesome as Watson!

Hmmm...to combine two things that are on your interests list...

The CSI:NY cast as superheroes in the DCverse.

(All CSI:NY)

So it's possibly unnecessary to add these two, but:

As contestants on Project Runway.
As members of a band.

Also,

As chefs or Ace of Cakes people or somesuch.
As jazz age Fitzgerldian peoples.
As Oceans 11 type criminals.
As hitmen.

And the AU where at least one person is deep undercover...

(y'know, do whatever you feel like, I'm just throwing crack out there to see what sticks.)

...I have to admit I'm curious to see what you would do with a High School AU, although that usually isn't my thing. Plus, I'm always a fan of the Superhero AU.
