Last Saturday night, after I posted my
coclaim100 story, I went off to take a bath in an attempt to relieve myself of the headache I'd developed. When I wandered out of the bathroom an hour or so later, I noticed that the red recording light on the cable box was on, and when I investigated, I discovered that it was taping one of CBS' random Saturday night airings of CSI:NY -- "Corporate Warriors" in this instance. I never remember when this shit is on; left to my own devices, I will either forget to check entirely, or turn it on halfway through the rerun. Which is fine, because they are reruns, but sometimes one is in the mood to watch.
This is reason #42 why my new DVR is much of the good. It remembers for me. And it can tape two shows at once, so I don't have to flail about the Project Runway vs. NY conundrum that would otherwise be troubling me.
Additionally, "Corporate Warriors" made me very, very happy, in much the same way the show in general makes me happy. This is something that I think I've lost sight of the past few months, between the normal way fandom slows in the summer and all the moving stress that I'm still coming down from. It makes me happy, despite all the things they do that make me raise my eyebrows and/or want to ask the creative team WTF they've been smoking.
"Corporate Warriors" has snarky Danny and snarky Stella, and Stella knowing her co-workers much, much too well, and the first appearance of Mac and his weapons fetish. Yes, he claims to the CEO that knowing weapons helps him to know his criminals, and while I'm sure that's a useful side benefit, let's not kid ourselves: that's love in his eyes when he'sfondling examining the displays, not to mention when he's playing with his the sword. It also has lots of Stella's utterly gorgeous cleavage and her impatience with the gender card of convenience (and Mac's awareness of same -- check out the look on his face after she slaps down the executive who was convicted for assault), and Lindsay's wardrobe has not yet gone utterly batshit insane. The little t-shirt she's wearing in a few scenes is actually downright cute.
Love! I love my show. Five more weeks 'till the new season starts.
